The contrast between God and evil is striking, like day and night, yet God doesn't just detach Himself from the suffering that results from evil, He is right in the middle of the mess of this world. I recently had a simple and sobering thought. It has come up as a result of two fairly simple questions and discussions I’ve had the past month. One involved the concept of serving in a church becoming dry and stale; the other involved the question of how to inspire the youth who attend a particular youth group who claim church and Jesus are boring. I was raised to think scientifically. In life I look for hypotheses, theories, and evidences supporting or usurping whichever idea I encounter. I have been taught that objective thought is superior to faith driven thought; I also value my objective thought when it does not discriminate against other thoughts, just when it disproves the ones containing no verifiable evidence.
